Blah

I can't sleep again, so I decided to make another post.

First things first -
Today I discovered a great way to get vegetables into my diet, since it had been lacking them. I bought a big container of the V8 Fusion Acai Mixed Berry, a drink that already has a lot of vegetables in it and tastes good. However, I always want more. I put a large handful of raw spinach leaves into the cup and blended it all together. You could barely even notice that I had added spinach... it was great. Tomorrow I'm going to try adding other vegetables and see if they work just as well.

Second -
I've decided that I will continue blogging on here about other things than my broken jaw... the site name will have to stay the same, but I'm going to edit the title on the page, etc. My life is pretty interesting, and it will be nice to have something to go back and read... and allow others to read and be entertained.

That is all.

Meals Today

Everything listed is always blended in the magic bullet (as seen on tv). I use the flat blade because I need to blend everything as finely as possible so it will go through my damn teeth. Keep in mind I've already had my jaw wired shut for about 4 weeks, so I'm getting pretty used to the consistency of these shitty foods and have had time to convince myself they taste good. OH YEAH, if you live near a Culver's, or any other restaurant that sells thick shakes, GET THEIR STRAWS. They have the strongest/thickest straws and they work the best. The straws from the grocery store are cheap and just get sucked shut if you try to eatdrink anything thick.

Breakfast: 1 high protein chocolate ensure mixed with half a banana, one spoonful of peanut butter, and 1 scoop of whey protein powder. (I've been working out a lot lately, hence all the protein).

Lunch: I've found that I can blend pizza into something like pizza soup that is actually pretty good. I cooked one thin-crust chicken and alfredo pizza, then cut it into 8 pieces. I put 2 or 3 pieces into the cup to be blended, about 1/2 a cup of milk, a little extra alfredo sauce, and a tiny bit of fresh garlic to keep it from getting too bland. I then blend it in the magic bullet for about 30 seconds, then re-heat it in the microwave for a little while because the cold milk cools it down. After re-heating I always blend it another 30 seconds or so to make sure there aren't any chunks and so it's evenly heated.

Dinner: I'm not going to let this keep me from going out with friends. We went out to eat at a restaurant called "Houlihan's." I was planning on sticking to a couple beers, then going home and preparing whatever looked good to throw in the blender, but I was starving. I actually asked the waitress if she would blend some french onion soup for me, but she was new so the manager came over haha. Not only did she blend some delicious soup for me, but she didn't even charge me! It was great. She also bought me and my friend a beer. Another one of my friends ordered the 'shrooms (look them up on the Houlihan's website), something I often get when I can fucking EAT. She couldn't finish them and let me take 2 home to try and blend them. I used the same approach I use w/ the pizza (put them in the bullet w/ a little milk and a little alfredo sauce). I also added a tiny amount of horseradish because they are served w/ a horseradish dipping sauce and thought it might taste good. I was right. It was amazing. I followed it up with a protein shake.
...I never claimed I would be posting HEALTHY recipes on here. I am going on a grilled chicken/fish, and salad diet for at least 2 weeks after getting unwired.

Picture

Here is a picture of my mouth (after the massive swelling had gone down) along with answers to questions I get EVERY time I run into someone I haven't seen since the incident:

-No I can't open my mouth at all
-I puree all my food and drink it through a straw to eat
-Yes, it's true I pureed meatloaf, ham and cheese sandwich, a burger, and spaghetti
-Yes I can speak fairly well
-Yes I lost weight... about 10 lbs the first week. I've been eating and working out all the time to gain it back.
-It feels like constantly squeezing my teeth together and it hurts, but I've gotten used to it.
-It needs to be like this for 6 weeks from the time of surgery
-Yawning Hurts... so does sneezing. I can't decide what's worse.

Intro/Story

Hey everybody,

This is the first blog I've ever made, so bear with me. I broke my jaw a few weeks ago, had surgery to put metal plates in, have to have my jaw wired shut for 6 weeks from the time of the surgery.

My friend and I got drunk
He's an angry drunk
I was being a tough guy and told him to go ahead and hit me
He actually did
I said go ahead hit me again...
He actually did
...and so on

I searched the internet for ideas of stuff to blend/how to prepare food so I can keep myself alive and happy during these shitty few weeks, but didn't find much. However, there was a magic bullet laying around that nobody ever used, so I decided to try blending EVERYTHING.

This blog will cover the best and worst things (in my opinion) to blend. Keep in mind, I am NOT a picky eater, and I love almost all food.
